About The Position

Job Objective:  The Arts & Crafts Program Aide will assist with the provision of camp craft activities to campers and assist in the general care and well-being of campers. Additionally responsible for the care and set up of camp craft resources, supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Education: Be a High School Student or above
  • Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
  • Experience: Must have experience working with children. Must have experience in relevant camp activities. Must have general knowledge of how to care for camp recreation equipment and supplies.
  • Certifications: Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment. Must be able to complete provided training courses for camp activities as assigned, such as paintball, mountain bikes, fishing, etc.
  • Skills/Abilities: Must be a Christian who demonstrates the principles of Christian living.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage time well in order to accomplish multiple tasks by a set schedule.
  • Able to relate God to campers in the natural setting of camp.
  • Ability to plan a lesson or activity
  • Ability to teach a concept or lead an activity for children
  • Able to guide, direct, and supervise daily duties and responsibilities of other staff members, as assigned
  • Able to communicate well with other staff, campers and supervisors
  • Able to walk for extended periods of time and across uneven terrain.
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting materials up to 60 pounds and carry it for at least 50 feet.
  • Be physically fit enough to keep up with daily camp activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create a list of camp craft activities that all staff can use throughout the summer, making sure all supplies are available, informing the Program Coordinator when more supplies are needed.
  • Lead campers in arts and crafts activities and similar activities as assigned.
  • Maintain organization of the Craft Cart, making sure that it is well stocked, and a variety of craft projects are available for use by other staff.
  • Assist Program Coordinator in preparing program spaces and supplies for use, according to the camp schedule.
  • Ensure that staff and leaders have craft supplies for classes and programs.
  • Serve as scheduled in the camp activity areas for which certification/training has been obtained, providing instructions and opportunities for camper participation.
  • Assist with evening programs, camp classes, and activities as assigned.
  • Assist in the cleaning & organization of classrooms & storage areas as assigned.
  • Work in the snack shop as assigned.
  • Assist at camper registration.
  • At the end of each camp session, clean cabin according to check out procedures and assist in cleaning and re-set of other camp program areas, as instructed.
  • Comply with camp policies.
  • Observe the spiritual emphasis of camp.
  • Keep living quarters clean and neat at all times.
  • Practice courtesy in sharing living space with other camp staff members.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Participate in staff meetings, evaluation sessions and devotion times.
  • Must carry radio while camp is in session on your person.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Leadership.
