About The Position

The skate shop employees shall be responsible for the daily operation of the Skate Shop. Position is 10 - 15 hours per week; evenings and weekends. 4 positions open.

Requirements

Good public relation skills.
Ability to get along and work with fellow employees.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Ability to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 6-8 hours per day.
Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions.
Ability to continuously walk or stand for 4-8 hours.
Proficient knowledge of sharpening of both Hockey and Figure Skates, or be willing to learn.
Ability to operate the point of sale software and cash drawer.
Proficiency in mathematics.
Ability to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

Serving patrons in a cheerful and professional manner.
Performing transactions for admission and skate rentals.
Knowledge of appropriately fitting skates.
Storing skates in an appropriate manner.
Handing out helmets and skate aids as requested.
Cleaning the Skate Shop and arena at the end of your shift.
Checking rental skates for blade quality and checking/replacing all skate laces and skate insoles as needed.
Inventorying the First Aid Cabinet daily to ensure it is fully stocked/supplied.
Keeping all merchandise stocked and reporting any low counts to your immediate supervisor.
Managing skates to be sharpened in the appropriate manner.
Answering the Skate Shop telephone.
Following accident procedures as stated in the K.B. Willett employee manual.
Being responsible for opening and closing out of the Skate Shop cash register.
Conducting work in a safe manner and adhering to all safety policies.
Staying in the Skate Shop area when the Skate Shop is open.
