Seasonal Shipping Dock Worker - Heavy Lifting
About The Position
Lakeside Book Company, a leader and innovator in the book industry, is seeking a Seasonal Shipping Dock Worker for its Distribution Center in Indianapolis. This seasonal role offers overtime opportunities, including mandatory hours from June to September, based on business needs. While not eligible for benefits, there may be opportunities for full-time employment after the peak season. Veterans are encouraged to apply. The position pays $17.50/hr and operates Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, with potential Saturday overtime from 6:00am-4:30pm.
Requirements
- Previous warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience - required
- Basic math skills for accuracy in order picking
- Proven success working in fast-paced, physically demanding seasonal periods
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop throughout duration of 8 to 10-hour shift
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) to be able to collaborate with team members and follow direction from leadership
Responsibilities
- Accurately label, sort, palletize, and wrap product for shipment
- Safely load product to correct carrier for shipment
- Communicate with supervisors regarding discrepancies, damage, or order issues
- This position requires continuous and repetitive lifting of boxes weighing 50lbs+
- Adherence to all safety policies – steel toes required
