Seasonal Retail Planting Foreman
About The Position
Chalet is a fourth-generation, family-owned retailer with over 100 years of service to the community. We offer a diverse range of products including outdoor and indoor plants, garden supplies, outdoor furniture, home and holiday decorations, and pet food/supplies. We are seeking a new team member who enjoys working outdoors in a physically demanding role. This position primarily involves preparing our Nursery for the busy Spring season, ensuring trees, shrubs, and other plants are ready for customer purchase, and then leading a planting crew to install customer purchases at their homes.
Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds (75 pounds ideally).
- Comfortable working actively and being on your feet for 8 or 9 hour shifts.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in retail, customer service, inventory, plant care or landscape preferred.
- Previous planting and/or supervising experience is a plus.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
- Open availability during the week and the flexibility to work a sixth day as needed are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Unloading tree and shrub trucks.
- Setting up the Nursery yard.
- Unhealing the trees and shrubs that were put away for the winter.
- Planting purchases made by retail customers.
- Leading a planting crew of 2 or 3 (1 or 2 other people besides yourself).
- Helping with deliveries as needed.
