About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates also support product availability, visual displays, customer inquiries, checkout, and the Store Leadership team’s mission of connecting active people with their passions.

This is a seasonal position. The role involves customer service, store presentation and safety, point-of-sale transactions, and accurate handling of incoming and outgoing merchandise. The position requires a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to local business trends or forecasts.

Requirements

• No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Two or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions and issues about product features, benefits, and availability; understand customer needs and preferences, demonstrate merchandise, and suggest suitable options.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety; retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently to contribute to store profitability.
