About The Position

An Apartment Community Grounds Person, often referred to as a Groundskeeper or Maintenance Worker, is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the apartment Community's outdoor spaces and common areas. The Apartment Community Grounds Person is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of the property’s exterior and common areas. This includes landscaping, cleaning, and ensuring that the apartment Community is safe and aesthetically pleasing for residents and visitors.

Requirements

  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or facility maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to operate lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
  • Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and gardening practices.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Good communication skills to interact with residents and team members.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Mow lawns, trim hedges, and maintain garden beds.
  • Plant and care for flowers, trees, shrubs, and other landscaping features.
  • Water plants and grass as needed, ensuring proper irrigation techniques.
  • Apply fertilizer and pesticides in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and litter throughout the grounds, parking lots, and common areas.
  • Empty trash cans and recycling bins regularly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of walkways, sidewalks, and entrances.
  • Perform minor repairs on fences, gates, and other outdoor structures.
  • Check and clean outdoor lighting fixtures, ensuring they are functioning properly.
  • Shovel snow and apply ice melt to driveways, walkways, and parking areas during winter months.
  • Maintain salt spreaders and snow removal equipment.
  • Report any hazardous conditions, such as broken fences, lights, or unsafe walking surfaces.
  • Monitor and maintain security features like gates and access control systems.
  • Occasionally interact with residents to address concerns related to the grounds and common areas.
  • Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor while interacting with residents and visitors.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of groundskeeping tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with ordering necessary materials for landscaping and maintenance tasks.
