About The Position

Operates a fully accessible shuttle van as a supplement to the fixed route shuttle bus service. Receives online ride requests via Harvard’s evening van mobile application and responds to requests throughout Cambridge / Allston campuses. Assists passengers with mobility impairments as needed. This is a one-year term job.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related passenger transport experience preferred.
  • Must possess strong verbal communication skills, a clear speaking voice and solid customer service skills, including courtesy, flexibility, sensitivity, patience and humor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a customer-focused team environment required.
  • Valid Massachusetts State driver’s license required.
  • Driving history must meet University Operations Services standards.
  • A minimum of six (6) years driving experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of tablet use.
  • Email (Outlook) access proficiency.
  • Will be required to wear a uniform provided by employer.

  • CDL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates shuttle van to meet scheduled and on-demand passenger pick-up requests.
  • Communicates on two-way radio with dispatcher to receive instructions and confirm changes, additions, or deletions from route schedule.
  • Assists passengers with mobility impairments both entering and exiting.
  • Performs daily safety inspection of vehicle and equipment. Completes vehicle condition report that includes requests for maintenance and repair.
  • Performs daily cleaning of vehicle interior including: emptying the trash receptacles, sweeping the floor, and dusting the seating surfaces. Performs refueling of vehicle as needed.
  • Utilizes on – demand electronic technology to provide safe ride services at night.
  • Performs related duties as required which may include occasional parcel delivery.
  • Participates as a member of the Passenger Transport Services Planning Team.
  • Performs related duties as required.
