About The Position

This position primarily consists of picking books and other materials from racks and packing in boxes to ship as well as transport materials, supplies and finished products to designated locations. The work environment is a non-climatically controlled environment throughout the year. The role requires the ability to stand/walk on concrete floors for the entire time picking, and to work safely around moving equipment and conveyors. The position also involves collecting and disposing of scrap, maintaining a clean work environment, and potentially working in different operational areas based on business needs. A positive and respectful attitude is expected, along with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Requirements

Must be able to lift/load up to 70 lbs
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to perform data entry
Must have working mobile # that receives text notifications to check/view the schedule

Flexible schedules throughout the week and weekend; cannot exceed 10 hrs in a 24 hour period)
Blocks are minimum of 4 hrs unless lack of work occurs
No guarantee of work every week/weekend; first come first scheduled
Must cancel weekday/night schedule prior day; Must cancel weekend schedule by Thursday of same week and no points assessed; if not canceled and doesn’t show up for work, 2 points will be assigned for no call/no show
If employee calls in for shift, a point will be assessed for time missed
If no shifts are chosen within 3 months, it is considered as a voluntary resignation and employee will be terminated.

Responsibilities

Replenish pick areas by moving boxes from pallet locations to flow racks
Pick books and other materials from rack and pack in boxes to ship
Sort, lift and stack boxes as well as finished product correctly onto pallets
Transports and load materials, supplies and finished goods (manually and/or using hand jacks or powered industrial trucks)
Safely operates various types of equipment to include but not limited to i.e., box knives, tape guns, electronic handheld devices, RF scanners, etc.
Safely operates machinery to include but not limited to conveyors, tapers, labeler, palletizer and bailers
Must be able to work safely around moving equipment and conveyors
Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for entire time they are picking
Must be able to read and comprehend a basic order form and be able to communicate well with others
Work in non-climatically controlled environment throughout the year
Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment
Must meet or exceed departmental standards for production, quality, and accuracy
May work in different areas (departments) in Operations based on business needs
Maintains positive and respectful attitude while working independently and in a team environment
Other duties as assigned
