About The Position

Join a welcoming team, make a difference in your community, and build valuable experience in education, childcare, recreation, leadership, and program planning! The Andover Recreation Division’s Kid Care Preschool Program provides a safe, fun, and engaging space for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children from birth through age five. Programming operates Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and includes drop-in infant and toddler playgroups, a weekly drop-off preschool program, and various enrichment classes led by Andover Kid Care staff and outside vendors. This is a seasonal, temporary, part-time position running from September 1 through June 15. This position is not benefits eligible. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in early education or childcare, as well as those looking to develop their program-planning and leadership skills.

Requirements

Must meet at least one of the following education and experience requirements: Have at least nine months of experience working in the early childhood field, including three months of supervised experience in a childcare program; Hold a bachelor’s or associate degree and have at least three months of experience working with children; or Hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least six months of experience working in the early childhood field, including three months of supervised experience in a childcare program.
Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Must be able to communicate positively and appropriately with children, families, and coworkers.
Must successfully complete all applicable pre-employment requirements.

Nice To Haves

Additional experience working with children through employment, volunteering, coaching, tutoring, babysitting, camps, or similar activities is preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, or the candidate must be willing and able to obtain certification if required.

Responsibilities

Supervise and actively engage infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Assist with planning and leading age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and enrichment opportunities.
Promote positive behavior and help children develop respectful relationships with their peers and staff.
Monitor participants and maintain awareness of their safety and well-being throughout the program.
Help prepare, organize, and clean program spaces, equipment, and activity materials.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
Follow all program policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
Participate in required training and staff meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
