The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Seasonal Prepress Technician to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This is a full-time Seasonal position with the possibility of converting to full-time associate at the end of the season based on performance, attendance, and position availability. Seasons vary between August through end of May.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Utilize InDesign and Illustrator in producing output files for print.
  • Understand vector separations as pertaining to design documents and layers within InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Proven proficiency in using a variety of math functions to calculate document dimension specifications using various measurement systems (fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Updating output files for offset and digital printing using InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro.
  • Completes the order process for all fine paper product lines, monitors template consistency, corrects exceptions, and addresses quality containment situations.
  • A strong focus on attention to detail and a balance of priorities will be key to operating successfully in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain master file template consistency and quality by following department standard operating procedures.
  • Understand all product job tickets and manufacturing specifications.
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for detail and adhere to department quality standards.
  • Prepress tickets according to standard operating procedures, redirecting issues when found.
  • Utilize tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Outlook, Oracle, and other technology to complete work.
  • Participate in proofing and determining root cause of failure points.
  • Communicate within and outside the department to clarify questions and keep production flow on target.
  • Work within a team environment to achieve production goals.
  • Maintain accurate production records to aid in production assessment and highlight key learning opportunities.
  • Assisting other departments as needed on projects, assignments, and tasks.
