About The Position

Under the supervision of the Park Manager, the Seasonal Park Maintenance Staff is responsible for performing various duties for the maintenance of the park property. This includes operations such as mowing, trimming, emptying garbage, cleaning restrooms, maintaining flower beds and athletic fields, preparing picnic areas, and setting up for special events. The role also involves equipment maintenance, reporting issues to the Park Manager, and adhering to all safety procedures and the Park District's safety program. Additional related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Aptitude for on-the-job training.
Requires a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
Ability to work well with Park District personnel.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and special events.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
Work record that shows reliability, integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities

Performing all duties assigned for the maintenance of the park property.
Mowing with push mower or riding mower
Trimming with power weed trimmers or manually
Emptying garbage barrels and picking up litter
Cleaning and maintaining public restrooms
Flower beds - planting, weeding, watering
Athletic field maintenance and preparation for games
Picnic shelter preparations and clean up after picnics
Set up and take down for special events
Maintenance of all equipment.
Reporting any vandalism, unusual condition, emergency situation, or incident to the Park Manager immediately.
Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed.
Supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
