About The Position

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Forest Service/Central Region, is seeking applications for a Maintenance position at Elk Neck State Forest in North East, Maryland. This role will support the general upkeep of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment within the State Forest. Responsibilities include performing maintenance tasks, routine preventative maintenance, and minor repairs or improvements to structures, fixtures, mechanical equipment, grounds, and roadways. Specific duties involve mowing, weed eating, clearing trails, and painting. Additional tasks may include planting trees, habitat improvement projects, and boundary line maintenance. The selected candidate might be required to work some weekends and/or holidays.

Requirements

• Experience operating small equipment such as small tractors, lawn mowers, and chainsaws.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to lift 70 lbs.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to work in rugged terrain.
• Possession of the appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment of the State Forest.
• Independently perform maintenance work.
• Render routine preventative maintenance.
• Make minor repairs or improvements to buildings, fixtures, mechanical equipment, grounds, and roadways.
• Perform tasks such as mowing, weed eating, clearing trails, and painting.
• Plant trees.
• Engage in habitat improvement projects.
• Conduct boundary line maintenance.
