About The Position

The City of Ridgefield is seeking reliable and motivated Seasonal Maintenance Workers to support the Public Works Department during the busy season (up to 6 months). These temporary positions offer hands-on experience in maintaining and improving public spaces and infrastructure. These positions will support the Stormwater team, assisting with the maintenance of stormwater systems and related infrastructure. The Stormwater Seasonal Maintenance Worker position follows a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • A strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and follow instructions.
  • Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Work Experience with a background in parks maintenance, landscaping or stormwater maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with landscaping, grounds maintenance, or similar field work is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • General grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, vegetation control, and site cleanup.
  • Invasive weed removal, site restoration, and planting of native vegetation.
  • Safe and effective use of both motorized and manual equipment, such as mowers, light trucks, tractors, power tools, and hand tools.
