About The Position

The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire seasonal laborers at the Water Department to assist with hydrant flushing. It is the responsibility of the Water Department to install, operate, repair, and maintain the wells, reservoirs, water main, service connections, fire hydrants and the main pumping station within the city. These are temporary positions that will work 40 hours per week. Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The starting wage is $20.00 per hour. Positions are to start August 31, 2026. Positions are limited term and do not acquire benefits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required

• GPS locating
• Valve turning
• Other duties as assigned
