About The Position

The Town of Milford is seeking a team-oriented Seasonal Laborer/Snowplow Operator to work fall and winter hours in the Highway Department. This hourly role supports roadwork, sidewalk and drainage maintenance, property and building upkeep, and other Highway Department functions. Winter duties include snow removal and plowing streets and sidewalks, as well as sanding sidewalks. The position works 16–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pay is $18.54–$29.50 per hour, depending on licenses.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Class D driver's license.
• Ability to operate small equipment, lawn mowers, weed whackers, chainsaws, and related landscaping equipment.
• Ability to operate small dump trucks and pickup trucks.
• General understanding of construction and maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds without assistance and more than 100 pounds with assistance.
• Physical ability to perform the listed frequent and constant activities, including pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, fine motor control, repetitive motion, grasping, visual inspection, hand-eye coordination, and hearing and speaking.
• Ability to understand and apply routine and non-routine verbal or written instructions; organize and prioritize work; make decisions affecting the immediate work unit; communicate basic information; retain knowledge; self-regulate; and interact with others.

Responsibilities

• Trim and remove brush; spread loam and seed; weed whack; shovel; mix cement; patch potholes; move hot-top materials with a wheelbarrow; and assist with other Highway Department functions as needed.
• Help maintain Highway Department roadwork, sidewalks, drainage, property, buildings, garages, vehicles, equipment, fences, and trees.
• Perform winter maintenance, including shoveling snow, sidewalk and street plowing, and sidewalk sanding.
