About The Position

Xavier University is seeking applications for a Seasonal Groundskeeper. This is a 40 hour per week seasonal position. The period of employment is April 1, 2026 to October 31, 2026. Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and driving record deemed insurable under Vehicle Use and Driver Information
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • This position is capped at 1000 hours.

  • If in good standing, the employee will be able to return the following season and/or apply for open Xavier positions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand and power tools to cut, trim, edge grass, turf, prunes trees and shrubs, trim hedges, mulches, pulls weeds, and applies chemicals.
  • Maintain athletic fields by dragging, laying out, lining and painting.
  • Keep university grounds clean (e.g., pick up papers and other debris; operates a variety of equipment to clean sidewalks, steps, patios, and parking lots when necessary).
  • Lifts or moves heavy equipment or material unassisted up to 125 pounds.
  • Follow all established safety procedures.
  • Work outside in all-weather condition; work with potentially dangerous equipment and chemicals; exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, noise, and elements.
