About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This is a multifaceted position where grounds employees are members of SIUE Local 1. The role involves preparing for and servicing funerals, and performing general maintenance at all locations of Catholic Cemeteries.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or actively working towards obtaining CDL
Knowledge of all sections and equipment
Tractor trailer operation
Backhoe (grave digging machine) operation
Hi-Lift tractor operation
Truck boom crane operation
Basket lift machine operation
12’, 6’, and smaller motorized lawn mower operation
Motorized push mower operation
Riding, backpack, and hand-pushed leaf blower operation
Hedge, tree trimming, and string trimming equipment operation
Chain saws and snow blowers operation
Other power equipment operation
Shovel and broom usage
Hoes, rakes, and felling trees
Cleaning branches
Painting and board laying
Road sealing and curb maintenance
Concrete and masonry work
Minor mechanical repairs

Responsibilities

Prepare for and service funerals
Perform general maintenance at all locations of Catholic Cemeteries
Opening and closing of graves and crypts
Tent set up and take down
Service graveside funerals
Placement of casket in crypt, grave or outer container and back filling grave
Install memorial foundations, set or reset memorial work
Disinterment work
General maintenance and Endowed Care work, including lawn mowing, weed trimming, shrub trimming and tree care
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
