About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This position is for Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum. The role involves preparing for and servicing funerals, performing general maintenance at all locations of Catholic Cemeteries. It is a multifaceted position where grounds employees are members of SIUE Local 1.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or actively working towards obtaining CDL
Experience operating a tractor trailer
Experience operating a backhoe (grave digging machine)
Experience operating a Hi-Lift tractor
Experience operating a truck boom crane
Experience operating a basket lift machine
Experience operating 12’, 6’, and smaller motorized lawn mowers
Experience operating a motorized push mower
Experience operating riding, backpack, and hand-pushed leaf blowers
Experience operating hedge, tree trimming, and string trimming equipment
Experience operating chain saws and snow blowers
Experience operating other power equipment
Proficiency with shovel and broom usage
Proficiency with hoes, rakes, and felling trees
Proficiency in cleaning branches
Proficiency in painting and board laying
Proficiency in road sealing and curb maintenance
Proficiency in concrete and masonry work
Proficiency in minor mechanical repairs

Responsibilities

Prepare for and service funerals
Perform general maintenance at all locations of Catholic Cemeteries
Open and close graves and crypts
Set up and take down tents
Service graveside funerals
Place caskets in crypts, graves, or outer containers and backfill graves
Install memorial foundations, set or reset memorial work
Perform disinterment work
Perform general maintenance and Endowed Care work, including lawn mowing, weed trimming, shrub trimming, and tree care
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
