About The Position

Flat Operations at the BVDC is seeking a hard-working, detail-oriented, dependable and energetic team player to join the Flat Processing team. The goal of the Processor will be to ensure timely processing of merchandise in a manner that meets company standards for accuracy, safety, security, and productivity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Must have at least one (1) year of processing experience in a high-volume distribution center or production environment with stable history
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience in the use of warehouse technology including RF scanners to perform daily functions
  • Ability to meet productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner; strives to increase productivity in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Ability to read labels and locations accurately
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment especially with radio frequency (RF) hand-held scanners
  • Must have excellent attention to detail with minimal errors
  • Must have good attendance/punctuality record, consistently at work and on time
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Must be able to learn and memorize Class and SKU systems
  • Speed, accuracy, and excellent stamina required
  • Good math, counting, and problem-solving skills (must be able to take a basic math and reasoning assessment)
  • Good communication skills and good command of the English language (speak, read, write, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties)
  • Ability to learn new skills, follow directions, and take on additional job responsibilities as needed
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitments
  • Ability to take initiative and work with team members to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy

  • Safety and security awareness and ability to recognize, prevent and address any issues regarding loss and damage of merchandise and equipment
  • Perform all of the physical requirements and duties of the job for accurately processing, pulling, picking, and filling orders that include but may not be limited to continuous standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, stretching, handling, use of arms, hands and fingers, pushing, pulling, and stacking merchandise with lifting and/or moving requirements up to 50 lbs. and ability to work in narrow spaces
  • Ability to use handling equipment and machinery including sorter systems, conveyors, RF scanners, plastic bags, plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, tape dispensers, and other materials necessary for the production and packaging of merchandise and products
  • Ability to work in all areas of the distribution center and perform any necessary job duties as assigned
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and adapt to a changing work environment (i.e., increased hours, volume of work, weekends, holidays, shifting priorities, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Receive all incoming merchandise and put away or store merchandise/products
  • Process goods in an efficient manner meeting customer service standards
  • Select, gather, move, and inspect merchandise and products from one location to another
  • Sort, organize and store merchandise in designated location
  • Tag and re-tag merchandise as needed
  • Operate a hand-held radio-frequency scanner (RF equipment) to process merchandise
  • Inventory merchandise manually or using RF (radio frequency) equipment
  • Unfold cartons to make boxes as needed
  • Distribute merchandise to assigned packing areas as required
  • Verify proper merchandise or products
  • Ensure the quality of the merchandise and products are accurate and free of damage
  • Assist in maintaining proper stock levels of merchandise and products in the proper locations for effective picking
  • Sort and place products/merchandise on designated racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence such type, style, color, size, and/or product code
  • Record and report any damaged products/merchandise to the designated supervisor
  • Responsible for the careful handling of all merchandise, avoiding damage, bending, or tearing
  • Utilize proper techniques for processing, picking, packing, pushing/pulling, and lifting
  • Perform inventory cycle counts of products/merchandise as required
  • Meet production goal standards set by management
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit and supporting the company’s goals and objectives
  • Inspect and ensure quality control on inbound and outbound goods
  • Always promote safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment and report all maintenance or safety issues requiring corrective action
  • Assist in all other areas of the distribution center
