About The Position

The Christian Education Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the spiritual formation of campers and staff throughout the summer season. This role implements the Salvation Army approved curriculum, including cabin devotions, chapel worship resources, and take-home discipleship materials. The position is dedicated primarily to Christian Education. The Director collaborates with camp leadership to ensure consistent, mission-aligned spiritual programming across all camp weeks.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young people ages 7 years old and older.
  • Must perform duties efficiently and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Room and Board is provided as Christian Education Director must be able to stay at camp while camp is in session.
  • Must be able to express personal Christian witness/testimony.
  • Experience working with youth, or in a formal youth camping program, with responsibilities for Christian education and program development.
  • Must complete the online courses for this area and pass the Background Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
  • Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions in English and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in a camp setting, preferred.
  • Active uniformed Salvationist, who has planned and participated in Salvation Army camp programs Christian education and spiritual curriculum, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual leadership, care, and guidance to counselors and campers
  • Provide care and guidance through all Christian education program components for assigned camper groups.
  • Conduct group devotions for camper groups, and provide resources to counselors and staff, every day at designated time.
  • Complete forms related to campers, Christian education program evaluation, or other related documentation.
  • Attend and participate in camp programs and activities.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual formation of campers and staff.
  • Ensure campers respect personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Ensure campers adhere to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and provide supervision and physical/emotional safety for campers and staff.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assist in clean-up of the camp at the end of sessions/summer.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned.
