As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, assisting the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment, and supplies, and passing items as needed. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms. All seasonal roles will have start dates in November.

Requirements

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required
  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous OR Experience Required
  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.
  • Scrub on all cases, primarily GEN, Ortho trauma/totals, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, ENT, Urology, and Spine cases.
  • Give breaks and/or provide additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assist with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
  • Act as an advocate for patient before, during and after surgery.
  • Provide call coverage every night from 9pm to 7am, with an average call requirement of 7 nights per schedule period.
  • Maintain a 30-minute callback radius when on call.

  • $400/month Summit County housing stipend available for full time residents of Summit, Park, Eagle, Grand, Clear Creek or Lake Counties. Must work at least 80% physically on-site at a CommonSpirit facility in Summit County and full time or part time status (PRN ineligible).
