About The Position

This is a temporary seasonal position that will end after 60 days of employment. The role involves supporting cashier duties, engaging with customers, processing transactions accurately, and promoting store initiatives. The position requires availability for shifts during weekdays and weekends, with an expected workload of 20-30 hours per week, potentially up to 40 hours. The company emphasizes a customer-first approach, teamwork, adaptability, and integrity.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred
Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.
Must be available for either ‘A’ or ‘B’ weekend requirements.
Must be available for shifts between the hours of 9:30 A.M -10 P.M, Monday through Friday.
Must be available for Saturday shifts between 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Sunday shifts between 11:00 A.M - 8:00 P.M.

Responsibilities

Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
Keep the checkout area stocked and clean
