About The Position

Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA) is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative seasonal team member who thrives in a fast‑paced, camp‑based environment. This role is an exciting opportunity to support girls and families through high‑quality outdoor experiences during the camp season while advancing the Girl Scout mission. The Camp Supervisor is a seasonal position reporting to the Manager Outdoor Experience, Day Camps. This role is responsible for the seasonal supervision and operation of the Mariposa Day Camp program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive experience for girl members and their families throughout the camp session. The Camp Supervisor provides daily leadership to seasonal day camp staff and counselors, supports campers, and oversees program delivery during assigned camp dates. Responsibilities include organizing and implementing camp activities, enforcing all GSGLA policies, procedures, and safety standards, and collaborating with camp leadership to deliver intentional, high‑quality camp programming. The ideal candidate is passionate about outdoor and youth programming, enjoys hands‑on leadership, and excels in a seasonal, team‑oriented environment. They are solution‑oriented, highly social, and committed to fostering positive staff and camper experiences while supporting the growth and success of the outdoor experience team throughout the camp season.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 25 years old or older as stated by the LA County Children’s Camp Guidelines.
  • Must have at least two (2) seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in camp activities.
  • Must be available for 6 weeks of day camp (June 15, 2026 – July 24, 2026) and training dates that will be scheduled prior to camp.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certification throughout the position’s employment dates.
  • Must submit a basic health history form as set by the American Camping Association.
  • Ability to spend time sitting, utilizing the computer, and standing and walking throughout the facilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically.
  • Comply with state-mandated reporter training
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned
  • Must successfully complete a Live Scan and background check

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and implements outdoor program curriculum for summer day camp operations at assigned camp location, ensuring activities are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with the Girl Scout mission.
  • Supports the hiring, training, and direct supervision of site‑specific seasonal staff involved in the delivery of day camp and seasonal outdoor program experiences.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and mentorship to seasonal staff throughout the camp session to strengthen skills, teamwork, and positive relationships with campers and families.
  • Coordinates and manages seasonal program resources, including supplies and equipment, to support timely, safe, and effective implementation of camp activities.
  • Assists with the development and execution of seasonal schedules, training plans, and daily operations, and contributes accurate information for camp communications as needed.
  • Implements camp‑specific evaluation tools to assess program outcomes and camper experience and provides end‑of‑season reporting to the Outdoor Program Manager.
  • Monitors seasonal program expenditures within established budgets to support cost‑effective camp operations and reports variances as needed.
  • Ensures that all seasonal programs and activities meet or exceed Council, Girl Scouts of the USA, and applicable health, safety, and risk‑management standards.
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining compliance with applicable children’s camp health, safety, and operational guidelines, including Los Angeles County Children’s Camp Inspection requirements, approved camp operating plans, emergency procedures, staff supervision ratios, and program safety standards, under the direction of the Outdoor Program Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
