About The Position

Plans, develops, and implements activities for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a camp setting; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of Camp Ann Director.

Requirements

• Graduated from High School or GED
• Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Must be able to effectively lead groups in recreational and leisure activities
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationship with other employees and the public
• Ability to drive 15- passenger van
• Valid Driver’s License

• Previous work experience in recreation and parks setting, education system, or direct client care support.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a program counselor and participates in program development
• Performs a variety of duties in leading activities and programs of a summer day camp for teens and adults with disabilities
• Monitors and evaluates daily progress of campers
• Prepares camp area with adaptive equipment for daily operation, monitors activities, facilities and equipment for safety and feasibility
• Transports campers to activity sites
• Enforces camp policies and safety rules and regulations
• Physically assists campers with personal needs including feeding, toileting, changing clothes, etc.
• Cleans work and program areas as needed during the day and upon conclusion of activities
• Prepares lists of materials and equipment needed for camp activities
• Makes preparation of area for participants' lunches and snacks
• Maintains daily communication with Camp Directors
• Enforces that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies
