About The Position

Conducts Admissions interviews on behalf of Macalester College Admissions. Interviews prospective students for admission to Macalester and produces a written summary of each interview for inclusion with the student’s application for admission. Serves as an initial point of contact for prospective students and as an ambassador for the College. Occasionally engages in follow-up communication to support applicants in the admissions process. Synthesizes and writes a short evaluative summary of each interview. At Macalester, our work is guided by academic excellence, internationalism, multiculturalism, and civic engagement. Requirements

• Knowledge of the overall landscape of selective higher education.
• Functional PC, experience working within a database to document interactions, internet and Zoom skills.
• Ability to answer questions from students and represent the interests of Macalester College.
• Maintain a positive, welcoming, and professional communication style while engaging with prospective students.
• Ability to accurately report interview notes and submit ratings in the system.
• Demonstrated ability to practice sound judgment within an evaluative framework.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an evaluative interview, eliciting information about the student’s high school curriculum, performance record, extracurricular involvements and potential to contribute to the Macalester community.
• Answers student questions about the College and its programs.
• Synthesizes, writes and edits a short evaluative summary of the strengths and notable elements of each interview conversation.
