About The Position

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to work. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The Seasonal Admissions Counselor reports to the Program Coordinator of Outreach and Recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely and alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. This is a seasonal position from October 1 – April 30 and will work 20 hours each week. In office work hours can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may require morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must be an Ohio resident and live in the state of Ohio while serving in the role.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding Ohio State admission policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person.
  • Conducts large and small-group presentations.
  • Learns and maintains knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff, school counselors, advisors, and prospective students and families.
  • Researches and resolves problems.
  • Makes recruitment calls and emails to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices.
  • Learns and uses the CRM, Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes.
  • Performs data validation.
  • Manages electronic workflows.
  • Assists with on campus recruitment events and projects.
  • Performs data entry following guidelines into the CRM.
  • Makes general judgments in interpreting information to be added to a student recruitment record.
  • Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admission recommendations through our holistic application review process.
  • Completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The hourly rate for this position is $17.50/hr.
