About The Position

Perform sewing, mending, and fabric repairs for Housekeeping and resort areas, including upholstery, curtains, sheers, cushions, pillows, sofa/couch covers, decorative fabric items, and other assigned textile repairs. Repair, alter, hem, and maintain employee uniforms as needed, including sewing seams, buttons, zippers, patches, hems, tags, and related uniform needs. Create, measure, cut, and sew new covers or replacement fabric pieces for sofas, couches, chairs, cushions, outdoor cushions, and other furniture or decor items as assigned. Inspect damaged fabric items, prioritize repairs, document completed work, and communicate items that need replacement, vendor support, or management follow-up. Support Housekeeping special projects and room/public area refresh needs involving fabric, upholstery, sewing, mending, and textile presentation standards. Maintain sewing equipment, tools, work area, thread, needles, fabric stock, and related supplies in a clean, safe, and organized condition. Coordinate with Housekeeping, Engineering, Purchasing, and Management on project needs, material requests, repairs, delivery/pick-up of items, and urgent operational priorities.

Requirements

  • Attend all mandatory meetings and department trainings.
  • Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or safety/security concerns to Safety/Security Department, Engineering, or Management as appropriate.
  • Provide general public assistance, instruction and/or guidance for guests and employee safety in the event of an emergency.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.
  • Keep sewing area, work area, equipment, supplies, and finished items neat and organized.
  • Maintain clear and precise log of daily activities, completed repairs, pending sewing projects, material needs, and follow-up concerns.
  • Maintain inventory of fabric, thread, needles, buttons, zippers, tools, and related supplies and notify Management of shortages.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping, Engineering, Purchasing, and Management regarding upholstery needs, uniform repairs, fabric repairs, and project priorities.
  • Assist with guestroom, public area, and back-of-house fabric projects, including curtains, sheers, cushions, sofa/couch covers, and other textile repairs as assigned.
  • Participate in handling resort emergencies such as fire, power failure, earthquake, flood, or other emergency situations.
  • Be knowledgeable with the safety program and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Safely operate and maintain sewing machines, needles, cutting tools, steam/iron equipment, and related tools within assigned skill level.
