About The Position

This position is responsible for altering and maintaining designed uniforms, making necessary adjustments to flat and fitted items, and performing other sewing and related duties as assigned by management. The role also involves light maintenance sewing chores on employee uniforms or other linen fabric, such as button replacement and mending of torn articles, as well as pressing garments as required. Alterations are made utilizing an industrial power sewing machine and/or hand stitching. The seamstress will record daily activities and work performed, maintain stock in a neat, orderly fashion, and ensure equipment used is maintained in good condition. Additionally, this role may involve repairing housekeeping linens, drapes, and/or curtains, and assisting Wardrobe Counter Attendants when needed, helping employees with uniform exchange according to established procedures. The ideal candidate will understand and respond to internal guests' needs, communicate in a friendly, respectful, and understandable manner, and provide consistent, timely, and accurate information. They will use outlined service behaviors, meet expected service delivery times, and be a team player, cooperating with employees within and across departments. Speaking positively about the company, co-workers, and guests is also expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Seamstress.
  • Ability to operate a sewing machine.
  • Ability to sit for long periods.
  • Must have a full understanding of mending and construction techniques.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English preferred.

  • High school diploma preferred.
