About The Position

99 Ranch Market is seeking a Management in Training (MIT) for the Seafood Department Supervisor/Manager role. This is a short-term transitional role designed to prepare individuals for promotion to Seafood Department Manager. Advancement to a management position can occur within approximately 6-8 months, depending on prior experience and performance. The program requires participants to meet the qualifications of a Seafood Department Supervisor.

Requirements

  • 1 year of supervisory experience in the seafood department or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Currently possess or have the ability to possess a Food Handler’s certificate.
  • Knowledge of food production process, product lines, and labeling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws, including compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations established by the company and government.
  • Advanced attention to detail, communication, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Advanced active listening, execution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation of the Seafood department, including product preparation, display, distribution, and inventory control to enhance product exposure and efficiency for increased sales.
  • Ensure excellent customer service from department team members, proactively identify and address issues, and manage customer suggestions and complaints to optimize service.
  • Drive department sales to meet targets, manage labor and stock loss, analyze sales data, control costs, and achieve financial projections.
  • Utilize the company system for product sales and inventory tracking, ensure accurate inventory numbers, and conduct monthly physical inventory counts.
  • Supervise, delegate tasks, and schedule employees, providing constructive feedback, and consult with HR regarding disciplinary actions, transfers, promotions, hiring, and rate increases. Train employees on equipment operation, product handling, presentation, and rotation.
  • Assist in supervising and executing Omni channel services and initiatives, and perform accounting, administrative, maintenance, and marketing duties. Identify efficient marking plans and utilize resources to maximize sales.
  • Order products according to company guidelines, schedules, and deadlines, and verify product quality and quantity upon receipt.
  • Distribute, refill, and rotate deliveries and stock using FIFO methods. Process products by cutting, trimming, and packing into saleable sizes, weights, and labeling with accurate pricing.
  • Manage and create attractive product displays with proper signage to highlight freshness and quality. Distribute promotional materials and ensure correct shelf labeling.
  • Lead and execute cash handling and product return procedures accurately and efficiently. Adequately handle expired and recalled products to minimize waste.
  • Control, safeguard, and monitor department assets. Implement company policies and procedures. Resolve department accidents, urgent notices, violations, or incidents and report them to management.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary working environments and comply with internal procedures and safety codes to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, machines, and appliances regularly. Monitor equipment temperatures and coordinate maintenance. Keep accurate logs according to company policies and regulations.
  • Manage product expiration dates, remove expired products, and order new products to replenish stock.
  • Plan promotion events, prepare appropriate product quantities, set reasonable prices, and arrange demonstrations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
