About The Position

Weis Markets is looking for a passionate and customer-focused Seafood Manager to lead their team. This role involves managing all aspects of the seafood department, from customer service and inventory management to associate training and financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of seafood products, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum (3) years management experience in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business related or food service-related field desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates.
  • Determine customer needs for seafood products, take orders, and create finished products in a timely fashion.
  • Manage inventory levels and review orders to ensure product quantities meet customer demand.
  • Oversee shelf replenishment to ensure product availability, prioritizing specials and high-velocity items.
  • Schedule Seafood associates, oversee and participate in training, reward and recognize performance, and delegate work assignments.
  • Participate in associate annual performance reviews and new hire interviews.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for associate training.
  • Develop and implement localized merchandising plans, set up displays for new or seasonal items to drive sales.
  • Maintain communication with other departments and the store manager for cross-merchandising and financial objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activity regarding merchandising, pricing, quality, and signage.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory records to calculate gross monthly profits.
  • Inspect seafood products and supplies upon delivery for quality and quantity.
  • Enforce and follow department practices regarding receiving, dating, and stocking product to ensure quality, accuracy, and proper rotation.
  • Handle spoiled and damaged product according to established procedures.
  • Control department expenses by improving operations, controlling labor costs, and reducing losses.
  • Ensure associates correctly follow company recipes for prepared products.
  • Maintain freshness by properly removing and recording out-of-code products and completing product logs.
  • Verify department deliveries and invoices for accurate billing.
  • Break down deliveries and keep the seafood area well stocked and appealing.
  • Make suggestions and provide information on seafood preparation.
  • Weigh and wrap merchandise for customers and apply price and weight stickers.
  • Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality.
  • Adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or utilizing kitchen tools.
  • Maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures.
  • Ensure general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines.
  • Dispose of trash properly and may assist with baling cardboard if trained.
  • Cooperate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure smooth function of the department and store.
  • Continuously improve job and department performance.
  • Utilize all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
  • May assist in other departments as needed.
