Weis Markets is looking for a passionate and customer-focused Seafood Manager to lead their team. This role involves managing all aspects of the seafood department, from customer service and inventory management to staff training and financial performance. Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum (3) years management experience in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates.
  • Greet customers, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the department.
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Create finished seafood products in a timely fashion.
  • Manage inventory levels and review orders to meet customer demand.
  • Maintain backroom organization and product storage within company guidelines.
  • Oversee shelf replenishment to ensure product availability, prioritizing key items.
  • Schedule Seafood associates, oversee training, reward performance, and delegate tasks.
  • Participate in associate annual performance reviews and new hire interviews.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for associate training.
  • Develop and implement localized merchandising plans and create displays to drive sales.
  • Communicate with other departments and the store manager for cross-merchandising and financial objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activity regarding merchandising, pricing, quality, and signage.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory records to calculate gross monthly profits.
  • Inspect seafood products and supplies upon delivery for quality and quantity.
  • Assist with unloading and unpacking product.
  • Enforce department practices for receiving, dating, and stocking product to ensure quality, accuracy, and proper rotation.
  • Handle spoiled and damaged product according to established procedures.
  • Control department expenses by improving operations, controlling labor costs, and reducing losses.
  • Ensure associates correctly follow company recipes for prepared products.
  • Maintain freshness by removing and recording out-of-code products.
  • Complete required product logs.
  • Verify department deliveries and invoices for accurate billing.
  • Assist with unloading merchandise and transporting it to the sales floor or storage area.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness.
  • Break down deliveries.
  • Keep the seafood area well-stocked and appealing.
  • Make suggestions and provide information on seafood preparation.
  • Take orders for future delivery and help fill special requests.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Set up displays and rotate product as needed.
  • Ensure seafood is fresh, saleable, and properly priced with signage.
  • Handle product that is spoiled, damaged, or close to expiration according to procedures.
  • Remove unsaleable product to ensure quality.
  • Weigh and wrap merchandise for customers.
  • Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality.
  • Adhere to all food and personal safety codes.
  • Maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures.
  • Ensure general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines.
  • Dispose of trash properly.
  • Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if trained.
  • Ensure smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Continuously improve job and department performance.
  • Utilize all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
