This position assists customers in their shopping experience by receiving, cutting, and serving seafood product in the most efficient, friendly, and courteous manner possible. The role involves following guidelines for proper preparation of items, monitoring product expiration dates and rotation, identifying and removing unsaleable products, and accurately counting merchandise for inventory. The Seafood Clerk is responsible for changing shelf tags, price markers, and labeling merchandise. They must be knowledgeable about department items, procedures, and policies to answer customer questions accurately. Additionally, the role involves assisting customers at the counter by weighing, wrapping, and pricing selected items, meeting productivity standards, and resolving customer complaints professionally. The clerk must also unload and stock incoming shipments, maintain department cleanliness and safety, and comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures. Operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment safely and competently are also key functions. The position requires strong verbal and interpersonal skills, as well as basic math and reading skills. Non-essential functions include promoting new items and specials, monitoring for security issues, and completing additional tasks as assigned by management.
