About The Position

The SEACBEC Counselor, with a Career and Technical Education (CTE) focus for grades 9-12, adheres to the Arkansas School Counseling mission to support fully implemented, comprehensive programs that are preventative and developmental. This role focuses on career readiness, technical pathways, and postsecondary transitions for grades 10-12 across six partner districts, while also supporting 9-12 career development. The counselor will oversee recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, completion, credential attainment, and postsecondary outcomes. Additionally, they will serve as a liaison among the Career Center, partner districts, colleges, and industry partners.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counseling (or related field).
  • Valid Arkansas K-12 license.
  • Knowledge of the state framework and ASCA model.
  • Proficiency in communication, organization, data management, problem-solving, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with student information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and advise students, aligning courses to graduation requirements.
  • Develop Student Success Plans, support scheduling, and monitor progress, pathway completion, and diploma distinctions.
  • Assist with program planning and improvement, track concentrators, completers, and credentials, and promote non-traditional pathways.
  • Coordinate recruitment, applications, enrollment, placement, and concurrent credit with partner districts and colleges.
  • Guide college, technical, and workforce planning, and support credentials, financial aid, FAFSA, scholarships, and work-based learning.
  • Maintain records, manage student information systems, and report grades and required state/federal data.
  • Provide counseling, coordinate referrals, participate in support teams, and advocate for equity and success.
  • Serve as a liaison among the Career Center, districts, families, colleges, and industry partners.
  • Coordinate exams and advise on registration and graduation.
  • Engage in professional learning, support program improvement, and perform assigned duties.
