About The Position

Within the Transportation Technology and Services organization, Aspen is building the future of intelligent operations for Amazon Relay. Our mission is to develop Relay Assistant (Relay Compass) — an AI-powered operating system that helps carriers manage freight operations through conversational, proactive, and agent-driven workflows. We believe the next generation of logistics software will move beyond static workflows and dashboards toward intelligent assistants that understand context, reason across systems, and help carriers make better operational decisions in real time. Aspen combines advances in large language models, agentic AI, voice experiences, orchestration frameworks, and deep transportation domain integrations to simplify the complexity of middle-mile logistics. Our vision is to create a trusted, intelligent companion for carriers that can assist with everything from load discovery, fleet operations, and disruption management to support, coaching, and workflow automation. By embedding AI directly into the Relay experience, we aim to reduce operational friction, surface actionable insights proactively, and enable carriers to focus on growing their business while delivering safely and reliably for Amazon. Our team is pioneering new capabilities across conversational AI, multi-agent systems, memory and context management, voice interfaces, evaluations, guardrails, experimentation frameworks, and real-time operational intelligence. Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software used worldwide by our transportation partners and will regularly interact with engineering and business leadership.
• Participate in the planning and execution of technology projects and operational excellence initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers in employing strong design and implementation practices.
• Be expected to have an established background in building scalable software systems, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.
• Be somebody who enjoys working on complex software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.
• Experience with building and operating the web services backing mobile applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.
