About The Position

This position is an Agile team member and servant-leader responsible for ensuring the team’s understanding of Agile development practices / Kanban practices, building effective interfaces with other Agile teams and units, and promoting self-organization and maturity of the Agile team. Scrum master plays a role of teacher, coach, mentor, change agent, facilitator and impediment remover.

Requirements

  • Evolving knowledge of relevant domains/products/journeys.
  • Confident and skilled at identifying and navigating through road-blocks.
  • Ability to promote innovative thinking and self-development.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Agile working (specific Scrum Master / Kanban / XP experience preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coach team on agile practices and ensure adherence to agile methodology to deliver maximum business value.
  • Practices servant leadership, always thinking about how to enable the team to perform and pushing for what is best for the team. Also leading by example.
  • Able to resolve conflicts within the team before they become an issue and create a safe environment for the team.
  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around her/him.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement throughout the value stream.
  • Helps the value stream to understand and apply agile principles
  • Enables his or her team to continuously have impacts on customers
  • Leads and stimulates his or her team to success.

Responsibilities

  • Service to the Product/Service Owner: Facilitate / coach the processes of work decomposition, dependency management and backlog management in and out of Agile teams. Support the Product Owner to ensure that the vision, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the team, as well as possible. Support the Product Owner to do work breakdown to maximize and optimize the business value delivered by development team. Support PO in finding and implementing newer and emerging backlog management techniques.
  • Service to Team: Facilitate Scrum events as needed / requested. Help the team in defining, reporting and meeting (by removing impediments) their goals. Facilitate team to visualize progress and achieve product outcomes. Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of Agile events/practices, by teaching new techniques to team. Create and maintain an atmosphere of safety and trust through facilitation of retrospectives and feedback exchange among Agile team members. Remove impediments to the team’s progress. Coach team in self-organization and cross-functionality through leading by example, serving others, etc. Help team to develop high-value products.
  • Service to Organization: Responsible for promoting and supporting agile values and principles throughout the organization. Coordinate interaction with other Agile teams and stakeholders across enterprise. Help other Agile teams and conventional parts of the organization build effective communications and interactions with the Agile team. Cause change that increases the productivity of the Agile team.
