About The Position

As a Systems Engineer - Scrum Master for the Strategic Weapon Interface Simulator (SWIS), you will perform systems engineering and help a cross-functional engineering team plan and deliver simulation capabilities supporting the future Columbia-class submarine fleet. SWIS brings together the simulation capabilities needed to support both Fire Control system development and fleet training. It allows engineering teams to develop, integrate, and test Fire Control capabilities in lab environments and helps prepare the fleet to operate those capabilities before they are used aboard a submarine. In this role, you will facilitate the team's Agile execution and contribute directly to systems engineering work. You will use Jira to maintain a clear and actionable backlog, plan achievable work, track sprint commitments and team performance, manage dependencies, and provide transparent status to stakeholders. You will facilitate Scrum events, remove impediments, and use Jira data and objective measures to improve predictability and delivery. You will partner with product owners, technical leads, engineering disciplines, and program leadership to connect technical priorities with executable plans. You will apply an understanding of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Cost Account Management (CAM) when planning and reporting the team's work. You may support CAMs and program leadership by maintaining credible work plans, evaluating actual and forecast performance, contributing to estimates to complete and estimates at completion, supporting variance analysis and change-control activities, and communicating risks and corrective actions. You may not be the CAM of record for assigned work packages, but you will understand how day-to-day engineering execution affects program cost, schedule, and earned value performance. You will also contribute to systems engineering activities across the development life cycle, including requirements management, technical planning, integration, verification, test, risk management, and technical documentation. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months of relevant experience.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience administering and using Jira to manage backlogs, epics, stories, tasks, workflows, dashboards, queries, sprint metrics, dependencies, and team reporting.
Experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile team facilitator, project lead, or technical task lead for a cross-functional engineering team.
Experience with Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, DevSecOps, or other Lean-Agile practices in a hardware, software, systems, or integrated product-development environment.
Experience supporting Cost Account Management or working with earned value management systems (EVMS), work breakdown structures, integrated master schedules, or program planning and control.
Experience analyzing schedule and cost performance using measures such as schedule performance index (SPI), cost performance index (CPI), budgeted cost, actual cost, and estimate at completion.

Experience managing technical scope, risks, dependencies, and changes while maintaining alignment among engineering and program stakeholders.
Experience with systems engineering activities such as requirements management, system design, integration, verification, test, or technical documentation.
Experience integrating Jira planning and performance data with Confluence, scheduling tools, EVMS tools, or program reporting processes.
Experience with defense systems, Fleet Ballistic Missile or Fire Control programs, simulation systems, training systems, or other mission-critical integrated systems.
Scrum Master, SAFe, Agile, EVMS, or CAM training or certification.
Solid understanding and application of systems engineering principles, concepts, and theories.
Strong Jira skills and the ability to configure useful team workflows, dashboards, filters, and reports while maintaining reliable planning data.
Ability to facilitate productive planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily coordination while helping a team continuously improve.
Ability to translate technical scope into logical work packages, measurable milestones, realistic forecasts, and clear ownership.
Working understanding of project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, earned value, Cost Account Management, forecasting, and disciplined change control.
Ability to identify emerging cost, schedule, technical, and dependency risks and drive practical corrective actions to closure.
Collaborative leadership style that supports team accountability, constructive problem-solving, and transparent communication.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain performance, risks, and recommendations to technical and program stakeholders.
