About The Position

We are currently looking for a candidate to fill Scum Leader role for the In-house Chassis Analytics software design team focused on data analysis, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence for the chassis area. This includes vehicle domains such as braking, steering, suspension, vehicle dynamics, and more. The Scrum Leader indirectly manages a scrum team (6-12 engineers) in designing and implementing technical software solutions for chassis analytics. He or she will utilize the standard methods roadmap, plan, and execute cloud-based software routines for this space. The Scrum Leader must collaborate with multiple areas of the business (Stakeholders, Customers, other scrums, and the Product Management Team). This role requires the high levels of leadership and program management background. We are seeking creative, highly motivated, agile thinkers with passion and expertise in Controls & Software.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other applicable Engineering focuses with 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with developing analytics and datasets in Databricks, Power-BI, and other platforms
  • Experience with software development and testing
  • Experience with data governance principles such as privacy impact assessments
  • In-depth knowledge of Algorithm & Software development and calibration of vehicle motion controls
  • Understanding of GM Vehicle Development Process
  • Knowledge in electrification and diagnostics

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the scrum team's ceremonies including daily/weekly standups, iteration reviews, iteration planning, demos, and their retrospective.
  • Attend and actively engage in the Scrum of Scrums, and Scrum Lead Centers of Practice.
  • Prepare the team and assist with PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Owner and creator of the Teams’ Kanban board to help the team complete their committed work.
  • Coordinate inter-team cooperation when needed.
  • Support software team standard practices. Some examples are: Work in Progress (WIP) limiting, Plan-Do-Check-Adjust Cycles, Innovation & Planning (IP), and fostering technical discipline.
  • Primary coach for their team and acts as a Lean-agile leader and servant leader.
  • Guide the team on writing good stories by using the INVEST method and three Cs.
  • Guide the team on how to properly story point and establish normalized estimates.
  • Lead the team to improve and take responsibility for their actions (done by empowering them to find the right solutions and following through on them).
  • Focus the team on completing their team iteration objectives with quality.
  • Continuously challenge the team’s normal ways of development to improve areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
  • Encourage the team to relentlessly improve through education and innovation. The scrum lead may jump start this activity.
  • Eliminate impediments; this can include working with other teams within or outside their ART.
  • Work closely with the product managers, engineering managers, and engineers to refine the requirements backlog.
  • Develop teams through the Storming, Forming, Norming and Performing stages through managing interpersonal conflicts and challenges.
  • Escalate problems to the right people at the right time, but only after team’s internal attempts have failed.
  • Develop and status metrics and to improve team’s performance and align with the broader goals of the chassis SW departments.
  • Document requirements for design solutions and link them to test cases that can demonstrate software functionality.
  • Utilize automated test tools in build environments, benches, and vehicles to verify functionality at the Function, Controller and System level.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with departments outside engineering, such as Data Engineering, Product Management, Systems & Safety Engineering, Electrical Architecture, Calibration and Vehicle Performance.
