Requirements

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program, or 5 years of scrub technician experience or hospital surgical technologist experience.
  • BLS Certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist Credential (CST)

Nice To Haves

  • Recent six to twelve months of Surgical Technologist experience in the Operating Room
  • Minimum one year previous experience
  • Certification in Surgical Technology

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a member of the patient care team, under the supervision of the physician, registered nurse and/or the unit director.
  • Provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub during operative procedures.
  • Promotes the vision, mission and PI philosophy of LMH.
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient services.
  • Performs skills from skills checklist accurately.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, initiating improvement through proper channels.
  • Respects and demonstrates confidentiality.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and advancing professional competency, meeting educational requirements pertinent to practice.
  • Demonstrates flexibility regarding scheduling.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures and displays knowledge of hospital’s emergency code procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • May participate in QA, PI activities and other hospital committees.
  • May participate in communications with the surgical representatives with the various vendors.
  • Demonstrates expertise with instrumentation, setting up the case and physician preferences.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
