About The Position

This role involves two distinct but related functions: Scrub Technician and Surgical Technician. The Scrub Technician assembles and prepares the sterile surgical field and performs the scrub role during surgical procedures. They are responsible for cleaning, preparing, storing, distributing, and maintaining supplies, equipment, and instruments to ensure efficient operation within a designated department. The Surgical Technician assists in preparing and caring for perioperative patients, including preparing patient skin for surgery according to standards, positioning patients, and maintaining aseptic techniques. They also manage supplies, equipment, and instruments to ensure efficiency and patient safety in the operating room.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Good communication skills
• Record keeping skills sufficient to manage required documentation
• Working knowledge of OR instruments, equipment, and procedures
• BLS
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology

• Incumbents hired or promoted into this position prior to 02/12/2017, are not required to show proof of graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with Infirmary Health’s standards.
• Positions patients according to type of surgery.
• Maintains aseptic techniques.
• Cleans, prepares, stores, distributes, and maintains various supplies, equipment, and instruments to assure efficiency operation and patient safety in the operating room.
