About The Position

Under the supervision of the OR Manager and the OR Coordinator, this position prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures; assists with patient care under the direction of a RN or physician.

Requirements

• Completion of accredited school of surgical technology or the equivalent in clinical surgery training.
• Current CPR certification
• Possesses visual acuity sufficient to prepare and clean instruments for sterilization, dress and clean wound after procedure, etc.
• Possesses audio acuity sufficient to correctly pass instruments and other sterile supplies to physician upon request.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or the equivalent is preferred but not required.
• One (1) to three (3) years previous surgery experience in at least two (2) specialty areas preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assists with patient care under the direction of a RN or physician.
• Reaching, grasping, handling and/or feeling five (5) or more hours per day in order to pass instruments or other sterile supplies to physician.
• Assembles equipment and instruments needed for procedure.
• Prepares and cleans instruments for sterilization.
• Dresses and cleans wound after procedure.
