Scripted Producer

early mediaAustin, TX

About The Position

Early Media is building a scripted production department from the ground up and this role is at the center of it. As a Scripted Producer, you’ll own individual series end-to-end: from pre-production through final delivery, managing creative, logistical, and operational elements across your slate. But this isn’t a role where the playbook already exists. You’ll be doing real producing work while simultaneously helping to build the infrastructure, processes, and standards that will power a department producing a portfolio of scripted series this year. If you’ve ever wanted to shape a production department, not just operate within one, this is that opportunity.

Requirements

  • 4 –7 years of producing experience in scripted television, film, commercial, or high-volume digital/streaming content.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a scripted project from development through delivery independently, across multiple formats or lengths.
  • Strong budget management skills. You’ve held the numbers on productions and know where costs hide.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder’s mentality. You don’t need every process to already exist, you’re good at creating structure where there isn’t any.
  • Collaborative working style. Early Media is a small team; producers here roll up their sleeves and ask for help when they need it.
  • Experience managing and directing junior production staff including coordinators and assistants.
  • Experience producing across multiple simultaneous projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an early-stage or startup production company where you’ve had to build a team or infrastructure alongside producing.
  • Background producing content for younger audiences (13–30) or in social-first, short-form, or digital formats.
  • Existing relationships with writers, directors, or department heads in the scripted space.
  • Familiarity with production management tools (Wrapbook, Hot Budget Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling)
  • Understanding of how vertical, social-first content differs from traditional production in pacing, format, and audience expectation.

Responsibilities

  • Own your assigned series from kickoff through delivery. Managing timelines, budgets, crew, and day-to-day logistics with minimal oversight.
  • Drive pre-production on each project: breakdowns, scheduling, budgeting, location scouting, crew and vendor coordination.
  • Manage production through principal photography, keeping your shows on schedule and on budget while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between your series’ creative team, the Production leadership, and the broader Early Media organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the Post Supervisor to ensure a smooth handoff from production to post with deliverables that hit their marks.
  • Work with the Production Coordinator to delegate logistics and keep communication flowing across your productions.
  • Help establish the production workflows, templates, and standards that will define how Early Media’s scripted department operates at scale.
  • Identify what’s working and what isn’t across your productions, and feed insights back into a growing department playbook.
  • Build repeatable systems for scheduling, budgeting, crew onboarding, and project tracking that can be handed off and scaled.
  • Partner with the Scripted Production leadership to align on process priorities and operational improvements across the slate.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with writers, directors, and key crew members relevant to Early Media’s scripted slate.
  • Contribute to talent sourcing efforts, flagging emerging filmmakers, writers, and collaborators who fit our voice and vision.
  • Bring a creative perspective to your projects, supporting directors and writers while keeping an eye on the audience Early Media is building for: 13–30 year olds who expect authenticity.
