About The Position

This is a great opportunity for med students or students in a gap year! The Scribe accompanies the physician into the patient exam room in order to transcribe a history, physical exam, patient instructions, disposition, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present. The role requires basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, surgery, diagnostic tests, pharmacology and the various medical specialties. The scribe will display professional appearance and conduct while promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation. They will maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation, and possess knowledge of organizational policies and computer applications. Proficiency in navigating the electronic medical record is essential. Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills (written and verbal) are required. The ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in typing required.
  • Proficiently navigates the electronic medical record.
  • Excellent time management, organization and communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
  • Demonstrates an ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Anatomy/Physiology or Medical Terminology classes preferred.
  • 6+ months of healthcare experience.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course or one year medical terminology experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities
