Requirements

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in healthcare, science, or related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a healthcare-related career.
  • Coursework in biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, public health, or related disciplines.
  • Previous healthcare experience such as: Medical Scribe, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Athletic Training, Physical Therapy Aide, Clinical Research, Physician Shadowing.
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
  • Typing proficiency of 60+ words per minute preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to learn medical terminology and clinical documentation practices.
  • Ability to learn and effectively navigate electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR) in real time.
  • Record patient histories, medications, allergies, review of systems, physical examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Document provider-directed diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and patient education.
  • Enter provider-directed orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and other treatment-related services.
  • Assist with administrative and clinical support tasks that facilitate provider workflow and clinic efficiency.
  • Coordinate and communicate with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams as appropriate.
  • Adapt to physician-specific workflows while maintaining organizational documentation standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational policies.
  • Complete required training and competency requirements necessary to perform assigned job responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations.
