About The Position

The Scribe performs all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in the clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. The scribe’s primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates efficient use of time and ensure work is accurate and of high quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to display well developed listening skills.
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terms and vocabulary.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior clinical and transcription experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and thoroughly documents medical office visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to patient medical history and physician exam, procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and advance practice providers, and prepares referral letters as directed by the physician.
  • Identifies mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and checks to correct the information in order to reduce errors.
  • Ensures that all clinical data, tests results and the interpretation of the results by the physician, are recorded accurately in the medical record.
  • Translates medical abbreviations into their expanded forms.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
