This role is for a skilled and detail-oriented Screen Printer reporting to the Team Coordinator of the Graphics department. The Screen Printer will be responsible for executing print jobs from start to finish, including setup, printing, cleanup, and preparation for the next job. This hands-on production role is crucial for producing high-quality printed components that meet precise color, registration, and durability standards. The position involves working with screens, inks, and production tools in a fast-paced environment where consistency and accuracy are paramount. The Screen Printer will contribute to output quality, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement on the production floor. This is an existing, full-time hourly role, working day shift (7:30 am–4:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 7:30 am–2:00 pm Friday), on-site at their Scarborough manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Experience gained either through a community college diploma in Screen Printing or through direct printing experience (screen printing, textile, industrial, or signage) role with a variety of inks.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in color matching.
  • Ability to apply common sense when carrying out written, oral, or diagram-form instructions, navigating multiple variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts, and calculate scaling amounts and percentages to ensure accuracy in proportions and measurements.
  • Ability to confidently use manual and power tools, including a ruler, utility knife, screw driver, drill, stir spatula, squeegee, and power washer for screen reclaiming.
  • Comfortable using basic software.
  • Ability to easily prioritize work orders, juggle multiple projects, and pivot as needed to ensure all tasks are done in a timely manner.
  • Team player but equally productive working independently.
  • High sense of urgency and dedication.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Open to feedback and guidance.
  • Ability to build trust and collaborative relationships with team members, vendors, customers, and leaders.
  • Willing and available to work extended hours during peak periods to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials and space: set up screens and jigs for production printing, and prepare and clean the space and materials to meet quality production requirements.
  • Follow a formula to create an exact color match using mixed paints and inks.
  • Adjust the positioning of the design or screen to ensure specified color print registration.
  • Execute daily production work using film, ink, a spray gun, a squeegee, and other tools to print screens.
  • Examine printed products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards and escalate any concerns to the supervisor.
  • Clean print screens using Standard Operating Procedures after a production run is complete.
  • Complete and maintain daily production reports.
  • Identify any areas for optimization and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct all work duties as per the WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, and the health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.
  • Report issues and incidents to the Supervisor immediately.
