About The Position

Momentec Brands is growing its Screen Print Department and is opening one general posting to fill multiple roles across the team. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with a hands-on production environment and learn valuable skills in screen printing. This posting covers several positions within the department. During the interview process, candidates may be introduced to multiple roles based on skills, interests, and team needs. No prior screen-printing experience is required, as we are willing to train motivated team members who are eager to learn, work collaboratively, and grow within the department. The role will be based at our Kannapolis, NC facility. Candidates who are able to train temporarily at our Statesville, NC location may be eligible to start immediately. Candidates who are only able to work in Kannapolis should expect start dates beginning in June. This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, first shift, 8am- 4:30pm, with on-the-job training provided and opportunities to learn multiple functions within the department. We are looking for team members who want to contribute, develop, and grow with us.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate assigned screen-printing machines as directed (Automatic Machines (M&R), Manuals, and Abacus Machines).
  • Follow machine schedule of orders set by leadership to be produced.
  • Review order information, art size, pallet size, screens for defects, and other basic information prior to starting setup on machine.
  • Insert and align screens into machine.
  • Ensure dryer speed and temperature are appropriate for fabric and ink type in order to prevent migration issues.
  • Add correct ink color and type of ink to the screen(s) based off the CAD.
  • Load and unload garments onto machine at appropriate pace that maximizes productivity and meets or exceeds quality expectations.
  • Remove printed garments from the printing press quickly and carefully.
  • Inspect each item for print accuracy, alignment, and quality (e.g., ink coverage, smudges, or defects).
  • Organize and stack garments according to production orders and specifications.
  • Review CAD and Sales Order documentation for quantity and style for each order.
  • Inspect test garments for proper placement, logo size, and correct color(s).
  • Verify style numbers.
  • Approve (or reject) per company standards.
  • Inspect garments as they come off the line for quality errors including incorrect logo placement, ink spots or stains, and garment defects.
  • If errors are detected, follow fallout documentation and replacement procedures.
  • Attach hangtags to garments, or other packaging requirements if required by the order.
  • Count and bundle garments as they come off the line to confirm order fulfillment.
  • Operate heat press machine to decorate garments accurately, on time, and with the planned efficiency according to specifications.
  • Read and comprehend reference sheets and related documents to correctly place designs or numbers on garments.
  • Select designs and numbers to apply.
  • Set up heat press machines according to transfer specifications.
  • Work in Pre-Press operations, with primary focus on Imaging Screens using the Direct-to-Screen (DTS) machine.
  • Perform other Pre-Press tasks such as screen coating, screen taping, screen cleaning, and ink preparation as needed.
  • Use assigned computer to download art files to the Direct-to-Screen machine’s software.
  • Use DTS machine to produce screens as needed per schedule.
  • Develop Imaged screens with water using automatic Eco-Rinse machine.
  • Inspect imaged screens for defects vs artwork, making corrections as needed.
  • Tape off appropriate areas on screen and organize all screens by work order for the supervisor or stager to take.
  • Coat screens with emulsion using automatic coating machine.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot DTF printing equipment to produce high-quality film transfers for garment decorating.
  • Set up and operate Direct to Film (DTF) printing machines according to job specifications.
  • Load artwork files and ensure accurate color output, alignment, and resolution.
  • Assist with cutting film as needed.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning printheads and checking ink levels.
