About The Position

A Scratch Baker will perform bakery functions such as mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing on one or more bakery items as directed, according to standard formulas and procedures. This role requires knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing, and the effects of temperature variations on bakery items. The Baker will also assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies, maintain inventory levels, and be capable of filling, rotating, arranging, and merchandising displays and display cases. Additionally, the Baker must possess knowledge of pricing, dating, wrapping, or bagging of all bakery products in accordance with the Bakery Merchant. Continuous self-development is encouraged to assume additional duties and responsibilities. The role also involves complying with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accidents to the Bakery Merchant, and cleaning and sanitizing bakery areas and equipment as directed. Maintaining department equipment in good working order and recommending repairs are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

Minimum age: 18 Years
Knowledgeable of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing, and effects of temperature variations on bakery items.
Ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
Regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach.
Perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination.
Hear and respond to customer inquiries.
Standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday.

Responsibilities

Assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory levels in accordance with department and store policy.
Fill, rotate, arrange and merchandise displays and display cases.
Price, date, wrap or bag all bakery products in accordance with the Bakery Merchant.
Comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accidents to the Bakery Merchant.
Clean and sanitize areas of bakery and equipment as directed by Bakery Merchant.
Maintain all department equipment in good working order and recommend repair of equipment when deemed necessary.
Proactively engage in self-development to assume additional duties and responsibilities.
