About The Position

The Scrap Yard Lead (Non-Ferrous) oversees daily non-ferrous operations, helps ensure quality standards are met, and performs duties needed to maintain production levels. The role supports the Non-Ferrous Manager and helps achieve warehouse operations objectives. The Lead must follow service requirements, equipment and operator limitations, and safe operating procedures. The position also guides yard activities and team tasks, performs routine cleanup, and completes other duties as directed by management.

• Industry experience in scrap or metal.

Responsibilities

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures, attend safety meetings, and participate in safety programs.
• Weigh non-ferrous materials and enter transactions into the in-house system.
• Weigh, sort, and move materials and supplies, including other physical handling duties.
• Coordinate with employees at other scales to verify or prevent duplicate purchases.
• Identify materials accurately, process them within management-provided ranges, and verify correct pricing.
• Act as a liaison between management and the crew.
• Maintain accurate records and documents related to deliveries and shipments.
• Operate small equipment such as a forklift and learn to operate larger industrial equipment as needed.
• Conduct monthly retail inventory.
• Perform general labor and cleanup, including sweeping and shoveling throughout the yard and on equipment.
• Cross-train in other positions and assist employees as needed.
• Guide yard activities and team tasks.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.
