About The Position

The Scrap Yard Laborer plays a key role in processing and recycling vehicles and scrap materials, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental standards. The role assists with vehicle processing, including preparing vehicles for dismantling, removing reusable parts, and supporting crushing and recycling activities. It also includes general yard duties such as sorting and organizing materials, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and assisting equipment operators and other team members as needed.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Industry experience in scrap or metal.

Responsibilities

• Weigh incoming material brought in by customers.
• Sort incoming material into appropriate bins.
• Disassemble tires.
• Prepare cars for processing, including draining oil tanks and removing aluminum rims and catalytic converters.
• Operate equipment such as an alligator shear, tow motor, and Bobcat skid steer.
• Ensure a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
• Supply the production facility and/or stockpiles with raw feed or finished products.
• Keep the yard clean, well-organized, and safe.
• Communicate and share information with yard personnel.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or requested.
