About The Position

Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. JOB SUMMARY Scorekeepers are game officials who keep score and other statistics, manage the game clock, and enforce roster rules. Further, they are to comply with all the policies and procedures of the City and Department. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Scorekeepers receive supervision from the Recreation Coordinator(s). Direction may be provided by the Recreation Specialist. SUPERVISOR DUTIES None.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of sports and how the game is played.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public.
• Ability to work independently or with official(s) on assigned games.
• Able to effectively communicate league rules.
• Effectively demonstrate and promote enthusiasm and sportsmanship in the sport.
• Must successfully complete a background check including but not limited to a criminal history search.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Some high school preferred.
• CPR and AED Certifications or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fills out score sheet and other statistics during games.
• Manages game time-clock.
• Verifies rosters and eligible players.
• Works with officials to manage rosters.
• Creates an atmosphere for enjoyment for all customers by providing excellent customer service.
• Distributes equipment for coaches.
• Other duties as assigned.
• May serve as an Emergency services worker.
• May perform CPR or AED as needed, if certified.
